TOPIA’s initial involvement with the project dates back to 1997, when we undertook an initial major cosmetic and maintenance upgrade to the 425-unit apartment complex, in conjunction with Golba Architecture. Our scope of work at the time involved updates to the planting and irrigation of the overall site to freshen up the 1970’s style.
We received a second chance to re-design this project in 2013, when AvalonBay changed it’s target market for this property to fit their new AVA brand. Intended to reach the new renter and millennial generation, the entire property was refreshed with upgraded amenities, new water conserving plantings, and new concepts for exterior spaces. Elements such as an outdoor fitness area, yoga meditation deck, bicycle repair station and new dog spa were new ideas for their time.
