TOPIA’s initial involvement on this project dates back to 1997, when we undertook a major cosmetic and maintenance upgrade to the 425-unit apartment complex in conjunction with Golba Architecture. Our scope of work at the time involved updated planting and irrigation modifications to freshen up the outdated 70’s style.
We received a second chance to redesign this project in 2013, when AvalonBay changed it’s target market for the property, to fit their new AVA brand. Intended to reach the new renter and the millennial generation, the entire property was again refreshed with upgraded amenities and new water conserving plantings. New ideas such as outdoor fitness areas, a D.I.Y. terrace, and a Pet Spa came out of this project and perfectly fit the San Diego lifestyle.
